What Is the Lord, Teach Us to Pray Seminar?

Experience the victory of a Spirit-filled prayer life
Is your personal prayer life a duty, a discipline, or a delight?  Prayer is a relationship with our Heavenly Father that grows and matures over time.  This seminar will encourage all those who yearn for a closer walk with the Lord through prayer.  

Apply lessons from the prayer life of Jesus
Our prayer lives will be enhanced as we learn to follow Jesus’ example of prayer. Why did Jesus pray? What did Jesus pray?  When did Jesus pray?

Put into practice tools for personal prayer
Your church chooses 5 tools for presentation from the curriculum. Each tool includes sound biblical teaching, personal testimony, and a prayer experience to enable you to practice the tool.

Identify and find healing for obstacles to intimacy with God
God’s promise of intimacy with Him is for you.  But many of us experience obstacles to intimacy.  Scripture, personal testimony, and the opportunity to receive personal prayer help participants find freedom for greater intimacy with God.

Description of the Seminar

“Lord, Teach Us to Pray” is a weekend seminar designed to encourage God’s people to become a people of prayer.  ARM will bring a team of trained persons to teach and share personal testimony that will encourage individuals to take a growth step   toward maturity in prayer.  This seminar has the potential to change lives and to transform churches as participants are challenged to walk in intimacy with God through prayer.

Recognizing that we learn by both hearing and doing, the curriculum is written to include a variety of activities that are practical applications of the teachings on prayer.  Team members will share not only their victories, but also times when they have struggled to walk in intimacy with God through prayer.  More than just a teaching tool, this seminar is an opportunity for all to encounter the Living God!

Friday Night (7 pm - 9 pm)

  • Teaching and Application  Theme: “Becoming Prayerful”
  • Small Group Discussion
  • Prayer Time
Saturday Morning (9 am - Noon)
  • Teaching and Application Theme: “Lessons from the Prayer Life of Jesus”
  • Video Presentation
  • Interaction
  • Lunch Break (12 pm - 1:15 pm) Provided by the church

Saturday Afternoon (1:15 pm - 4 pm)

  • Teaching and Application Theme: “Tools for Personal Prayer”
    • Listening, Fasting, Daily Quiet Time, Praying the Names of God, Journaling,
    • Praying for Others, Praying Hymns,
    • Praying the Scriptures, A-C-T-S and
    • Praying in Jesus’ Name
  • This session can be tailor made for your local church by selecting 5 tools from the  total  curriculum for presentation.
  • Dinner Break  (4 pm - 7 pm) On your own
Saturday Evening (7 pm - 9 pm)
  • Praise and Worship
  • Teaching and Application Theme: “The Promise of Intimacy With God in Prayer”
  • Commissioning Service
Sunday Morning
  • Team members are available to share in Youth and Adult Sunday School Classes with advanced notice.
We can alter the weekend schedule to accommodate any request which is best for the local church.

Expense to the Church

A non-refundable application fee of $150* is required to confirm the event.  The application fee includes the Local Church Preparation Guide. Team members travel at their own expense to live for the weekend with members of the congregation. The church will need to provide meals and suitable housing for all the team.

The church will be responsible for honoraria ($250) and travel expenses for the coordinator. During the weekend the church is requested to take up a love offering or make a contribution to ARM. One check is sent to the ARM office immediately after the event to cover all expenses.

Each participant’s manual retails for $15.00.  ARM provides them to the hosting church for $12 per participant. Many churches charge a registration fee of $15-20 to help defray expenses. Others prefer to fund the event from the church budget.

*Registration fees are reviewed and subject to change in January of each year.
