Methodist School For Supernatural Ministry: Session 1 Co-sponsored by the Western PA Renewal Fellowship

This event will be held at Jumonville, a premier Christian Retreat Center in Southwestern Pennsylvania. October 3-6, 2012

Twice a year classes will be offered at the ARC to train clergy and lay people from a Methodist perspective to do supernatural ministry.  Topics will be ones not taught in most seminaries, e.g. The Supernatural History of Methodism, Contemporary Manifestations of the Holy Spirit, Hearing from God, Praying for Healing, Dealing with the Demonic, etc.

THE METHODIST SCHOOL FOR SUPERNATURAL MINISTRY

When Jesus said that “I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing…” [Jn 14:12] at Aldersgate Renewal Ministries we believe that includes United Methodists today!  More than believing that miracles really happened, and beyond believing that God still performs miracles, Jesus invites us to live supernaturally today, doing on earth what He was doing.

The question is, where can Methodists who are longing to live in the supernatural learn about our Methodist heritage of supernatural ministry, how God is moving supernaturally in and through Methodists today and how to be used by God in supernatural ways?

The answer is, at The Methodist School for Supernatural Ministry!

What is that?

METHODIST

  • Not that all courses will be taught by Methodists, but all courses will be taught in a “Methodist friendly” way, from a Methodist perspective.
  • Manifestations of the Holy Spirit among Methodists in the past will be studied.
  • Contemporary manifestations of the Spirit among Methodists will be shared.
  • Ordained and lay Methodists are welcome.
  • Non-Methodists who understand the Methodist perspective of the course are welcome.

 SCHOOL

  • A place to learn together.
  • Teachers who are moving in the supernatural.
  • In the Old Testament there were schools of the prophets where people learned to exercise the prophetic gifts—1Sam 10:5-12; 1 Sam 19:20
  • Everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.  Luke 6:40
  • Practical subjects that are not taught in most seminaries.
  • Learning how to minister God’s supernatural gifts.
  • Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) will be given to those who want them.

SUPERNATURAL

  • Supernatural means “over and above” our natural abilities that are also given to us by God.  Learning to live in the supernatural.
  • We expect to be able to do ALL that Jesus did and commanded. Mt 28:20
  • We believe that Jesus and the apostles did miracles and we expect to be enabled to do those things today.  Jn 14:12
  • We expect God to use Bible-based teaching and preaching to be combined with miraculous demonstrations of the power of God to “fully proclaim” the kingdom of God. Ro 15:19

MINISTRY

  • Putting into practice what we learn inside and outside of class, not just learning new insights into scripture.
  • Seeing God work through you in supernatural ways to change lives forever.
  • Jesus said we would DO what he had been doing. Jn 14:12

Testimonies from MSSM

There were angels everywhere.  Words can't describe the profound affect the MSSM has had on my life. Can't wait for the next session.  Layperson, WV

The leaders taught Scripturally and with integrity as well as from experience  They didn’t bash the denomination but handled this subject with sensitivity and integrity...I am going home changed.   Layperson, OH

I felt from the first session that we were in such a holy place.  The presence of God was so strong it was hard for me to stand many times….I’ve been changed by the level of worship we experienced.  I’ve been changed by the testimonies of what God is doing among Methodists today….I’ve been changed by seeing the hunger of the people gathered in this place and that God wants to meet us where we are.  I’ve been changed by the power of God that touched me this weekend.  I’m going home with fire in my bones!  Layperson, KY

I believe as I step into what has been imparted to me, God will begin to move in signs and wonders and miracles in the local church I serve.  Pastor, TN

I truly expect to be used as a signpost—pointing the way to what God is doing.  I expect to be a source of encouragement to our pastor.  Layperson, MI

For 47 years I’ve been bored in the UMC.  Now I understand why.  I want to see Acts come alive in the church today.  I want God to show up at church supernaturally.  I am tired of church as usual.  Pastor, KY

The highlight of the school for me has been hope.  Hope for renewal in the UMC and beyond.  I am not alone and there is historic evidence of the move of the Holy Spirit in our denomination.  Pastor, OH

I see God spreading His love and Spirit through me to pour His blessing out on my church and those in my community.  Layperson, PA
