Eyewitnesses of His Majesty – November 2011

On a recent ministry trip, I came across a passage of Scripture that has equipped me with fresh vocabulary in my prayers.  Peter described himself and the other Christ-followers in 2 Peter 1:16, as “Eyewitnesses of His majesty.” The Contemporary English Version of that verse uses the phrase “But with our own eyes we saw His true greatness.”  That has become one of my prayers for ministry: “Lord, I want to be an eyewitness of Your majesty.”  I don’t want God to jump through my hoop and show me some tricks.  I want God to reveal the fullness of who He campingis so that as Jesus is lifted up, the Spirit will draw more people to a deeper relationship with Jesus.

Over the past couple of months, God’s been answering that prayer.  Come alongside me for a moment and become a witness of His majesty.

Stand with me and see inmates at a correctional facility in Virginia.  After a season of teaching and worship, a cavernous gym filled with men was brought to complete silence for about 25 minutes.  Some stood with hands extended and some knelt with heads bowed… some had smiles and some had tears as what I could only describe as the weight of God’s healing glory rested among all of the participants.

At that same event, God’s grace was poured out as a public reconciliation took place among two inmates.  Later that day, men spoke words of grace and assurance of forgiveness over each other in a powerful season of worship.

Stand with me and see a man in Estonia whose life was spared as he was set free from demonic forces at a Life in the Spirit Experience.

Stand with me and see an attendee of the worship conference at the ARC, drowning in the daily responsibilities of worship planning, who was rescued by an encounter with God that lifted his eyes to focus on his true calling to be a worshiper first and foremost.

Stand with me and see an 85 year old man in New York who had not been to church since he was 19 years old, who gave his life to Christ at a Lay Witness Mission.

Stand with me and see a church choir in Louisiana who ministered in greater boldness as they discovered a ministry calling beyond singing right notes and rhythms.  God helped them release their personal baggage and embrace His call to minister to those in need of a fresh touch from God.

Stand with me and see 80 people who stood at the most recent Methodist School for Supernatural Ministry who acknowledged that God had healed them physically or emotionally (or both!) while they participated in the equipping and prayer ministry.  That number represents 69% of those in attendance!

Can you see God’s majesty revealed?  Can you imagine with me what it is that God has in store for these precious individuals?  Can you imagine who these people, freshly touched by the Holy Spirit, will now impact?  Think about that for a moment!

Join me in praying for Aldersgate Renewal Ministries, that we would be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit as we walk in obedience to His call to equip individuals and churches to minister to the world in the power of the Holy Spirit.  I want us to be “Eyewitnesses of His majesty.”
