Wake Up at Aldersgate
When the alarm goes off, it's easy to hit the snooze button and give yourself ten more minutes to doze. Sometimes that happens in our walk with God, too. When the Holy Spirit prompts us to wake up and obey, it's easy to delay our response. In His mercy, He often prompts again, inviting us to awaken. At that point, we have a decision to make; will we hit the snooze or will we wake up and do what God is asking?
That's the heart behind Aldersgate 2012: a spiritual wake-up call to be filled with Holy Spirit so that we are equipped to supernaturally minister to the world as Jesus did. God invites us to wake up and see His glory, to get dressed in Christ, and to live a life of intimacy with God (Luke 9:32, Romans 13:11-14). The conference is designed for you to have dialogue with God... in worship, in prayer, and in ministry to one another. In the midst of it, you will discover that God has created and called you for more than a sleepy existence. God has uniquely created and gifted you for a divine purpose!
How can I say that with such assurance? Because I received my wake up call at Aldersgate. Journeying through life spiritually sleepy, I hit the snooze button over and over again. Dragging myself through the motions of life, I was emotionally worn out, carrying baggage from the past, and unclear about the future. At the invitation of a friend, I went to an Aldersgate conference. Like John Wesley described in his encounter with God on Aldersgate street, my heart was "strangely warmed" at that conference. My icy, calloused heart, cut-off from others in an act of self-preservation, began to melt as I was saturated in the unconditional love and healing grace of God. The conference was a safe place to open the locked gates of my heart and mind, and allow the pervasive healing grace of God to awaken me. I experienced rest as God spoke healing over my past, comfort in the present, and hope for my future. As I continue to participate in the conference, I learn disciplines
that helped me to be spiritually rested. I am becoming less inclined to hit the snooze button when God invites me to take a deeper step of obedience.
I encourage you... don't hit the snooze button on attending the Aldersgate conference! Come and experience a life-changing encounter with God. Not only will your heart be awakened, but you will be empowered and equipped afresh to carry on the ministry of Jesus!
