This has been an exciting year thus far for The Gate youth ministry. The 2010 Gate Annual Youth Conference was a huge success and God continues to move throughout this ministry in a number of ways. One of the areas of ministry outside of the Annual Youth Conference that we are really excited about is our Mini-Gates. A Mini-Gate is a one night youth rally hosted by a local church for an evening of worship, preaching and renewal. ![]() |

On August 29th we held our first Mini-Gate (post Aldersgate 2010) in partnership with Cook’s United Methodist Church in Mt. Juliet, TN. Twelve Ounce Jar led us in worship and Rev. Charles Welchance (keynote speaker for 2011) brought the message. There were over 180 young people in attendance for this event and it was a powerful night of ministry. It is the hope of the youth ministry of the TN Annual Conference to host a Mini-Gate in every district this year! The word is getting out about what God is doing with the youth ministry of Aldersgate Renewal Ministries – and the Gate is becoming a recognizable name among United Methodist Churches. Please continue to be in prayer for what God is doing amongst this generation of young people through the vessel of ARM as we prepare for the 2011 Conference where we are ready to be Devastated by His Love and Ruined for the Ordinary.
Based on God’s promise in Isaiah 44:3, the theme for Aldersgate 2010 was “Unleashed.” Executive Director, Jonathan Dow, said of the conference, “Prior to the conference, God lovingly challenged us to recognize that if we ask an infinite God to be ‘unleashed’ in our lives, the reality is that He may choose to answer our prayers at the conference in a way that goes beyond our finite comprehension, understanding and experience. I believe He did so.”
Over 300 people joined together for Pre-Conference around the theme of Moving in the Miraculous – prepared, equipped, and released. One highlight was the number of prophetic words, 23 in all, that were shared during intentional seasons of listening and inviting God’s presence. Participants were refreshed and equipped to receive from the Lord.
In response to the question “How has the conference helped you in your spiritual journey?” a pastor from PA wrote: “Renewal, Revival, Equipping, Empowering, New Determination, New Vision, More anointing!” From a pastor in NC: “To be able to see and experience the presence of the Holy Spirit among so many other United Methodists is so very encouraging to me as an United Methodist minister.” Since the conference, testimony from clergy reflects the fresh impartation for ministry they received at the conference.

Picture this...a room full of kids standing shoulder to shoulder (well, maybe there’s a little jumping), hands in the air reaching to Heaven, voices singing as loud as possible, “Jesus, You’re the only that I could live for!” What about watching groups of kids intercede for the sick, the lost, and the hurting?
As we begin preparing for Aldersgate 2011, we would covet your prayers for the Children’s Ministry. Please pray for the leadership in planning, dreaming, and listening for God’s leading. Pray for the kids and families who will be involved, that God would lead even more to our ministry. Pray for this generation of young ones that God would give them a spirit of wisdom and revelation that they may know him better and understand his incomparably great power for those who believe.
