THE METHODIST SCHOOL FOR SUPERNATURAL MINISTRY
When Jesus said that “I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing…” [Jn 14:12] at Aldersgate Renewal Ministries we believe that includes United Methodists today! More than believing that miracles really happened, and beyond believing that God still performs miracles, Jesus invites us to live supernaturally today, doing on earth what He was doing.
The question is, where can Methodists who are longing to live in the supernatural learn about our Methodist heritage of supernatural ministry, how God is moving supernaturally in and through Methodists today and how to be used by God in supernatural ways?
The answer is, at The Methodist School for Supernatural Ministry!
What is that?
METHODIST
- Not that all courses will be taught by Methodists, but all courses will be taught in a “Methodist friendly” way, from a Methodist perspective.
- Manifestations of the Holy Spirit among Methodists in the past will be studied.
- Contemporary manifestations of the Spirit among Methodists will be shared.
- Ordained and lay Methodists are welcome.
- Non-Methodists who understand the Methodist perspective of the course are welcome.
SCHOOL
- A place to learn together.
- Teachers who are moving in the supernatural.
- In the Old Testament there were schools of the prophets where people learned to exercise the prophetic gifts—1Sam 10:5-12; 1 Sam 19:20
- Everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher. Luke 6:40
- Practical subjects that are not taught in most seminaries.
- Learning how to minister God’s supernatural gifts.
- Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) will be given to those who want them.
SUPERNATURAL
- Supernatural means “over and above” our natural abilities that are also given to us by God. Learning to live in the supernatural.
- We expect to be able to do ALL that Jesus did and commanded. Mt 28:20
- We believe that Jesus and the apostles did miracles and we expect to be enabled to do those things today. Jn 14:12
- We expect God to use Bible-based teaching and preaching to be combined with miraculous demonstrations of the power of God to “fully proclaim” the kingdom of God. Ro 15:19
MINISTRY
- Putting into practice what we learn inside and outside of class, not just learning new insights into scripture.
- Seeing God work through you in supernatural ways to change lives forever.
- Jesus said we would DO what he had been doing. Jn 14:12
MSSM 2 Testimonies
One of our church women had been to an ER in Gatlinburg several weeks ago, where they did a CAT scan and told her that she had a cancerous tumor in her colon, located near her liver. She was scheduled for a colonoscopy the Wednesday after MSSM#2, so came forward for anointing with oil & prayer during the church service (2/20). The colonoscopy revealed that NOTHING was there; the medical folks could not explain why it had disappeared! Her response: Our God is an Awesome God! (Praise the Name of Jesus!) (Legion Memorial UMC)
On Sunday Feb 20, I had intended to take some hiking sticks that I had made for Boy Scouts to the East Stone Gap Church’s service, but forgot to get them out. The Lord spoke to me and told me to go get them during the offertory (I live 20 feet from the church!). I explained about “Authority Sticks,” and one woman from ‘way in the back almost took it out of my hand before I could put it against the wall. Other folks grabbed other sticks and began taking authority over situations and concerns while we sang one song. We then began singing “I Went To the Enemy’s Camp” (“and took back what he stole from me” – “he’s under my feet…”). Many others joined in taking authority, and we began a “Jericho March” around the inside of the Worship Center. Father God showed up in power. I also asked 6 or 7 people to come forward at the invitation and be ready to speak/pray prophetically over those who might come forward. At least one (man) had never done that before, but he was the first person I saw when I walked into the building, and God said “choose him.” The others who prayed had been used like that before, but the anointing was heavy and precious. Many received.

Wednesday ~ we left our house around 8 am and headed east. I wish we weren’t 7 hours from Goodlettsville, but the nice part about that is there is plenty of time to get centered on what God in going to do in the upcoming days. Kyle and I listened to some bible on CD as well as some ibethel podcasts. Spending time in quiet was also welcomed.
The opening session was nice, a nice time to let the events leading up to this time wash away and really be in the presence of God knowing that He had great plans for us. Hearing Jonathan speak of cooing in the sanctuary really opened my heart to the love He has for us. Oh, to be cooed over. Song of Solomon 2:11-13.
Thursday ~ Ahh, soaking prayer. Entering into the time of soaking prayer I was welcomed by one of my favorite soaking prayer CD’s. So nice. Again, I find myself needing to let go of the world. This morning our daughter didn’t want to go to school. Grandma is at home with her but she continues to try to guilt us and manipulate us using text messaging. Just let it go….. And then the tears flow. I am always amazed at how God’s loving presence makes me weep. The tears flow and flow. As I sit, I hear God say to me “I am placing my sovereignty on your shoulders”. I dismissed it, (I am sorry Lord) I thought it sounded too good to be true, too holy, too righteous. It must have come from somewhere other than my Lord. I also had the flittering thought of gold dust. As I was wiping my tears away I was looking for gold dust. At that moment, I realized how selfish I was being and knew that the possibility of gold dust is real, but maybe not meant for me. I looked up, and I don’t know if I can explain in words, but I knew there were angels above us. I didn’t see them with my physical eyes, with my spirit I knew there was fluttering above us; the atmosphere was being rustled by the wings of angels. (I learned later that during this same time Barbara saw the Shekinah glory with her spiritual eyes).
