Amidst days of great uncertainty and adversity, God is calling the Church to repent and turn to God’s love. This call is a call to God’s holiness. God desires to deliver us—from sin, from death and from the chains that bind us. As we respond to God’s call, we will rediscover liberty and peace in God’s holy presence.
On December 1, join us at the Holy Spirit Seminar, as we cry out for a fresh baptism of holy fire. Guest speakers Guillermo Leon Mighty and Adria Ortiz Núñez, co-pastors of Havana Central Methodist Church in Cuba, will lead an exploration into “Holy Fire: Holiness and the Holy Spirit.” Until we are captivated by God’s presence, described by John Wesley as “holy love,” we will never be satisfied. Nothing less than God’s holiness will sustain us and keep our hearts burning for Christ.

Guillermo Leon Mighty and Adria Núñez Ortiz are a husband and wife ministry team and co-pastors of Havana Central Methodist Church in Cuba. Under their leadership, the church has grown rapidly and has been particularly successful in reaching young people. Guillermo also serves as District Superintendent of the Havana area of the Methodist Church in Cuba. Both Guillermo and Adria are licensed in theology and biblical studies through the Facultad Latinoamericana de Estudios Teologicos. In addition to being a center for evangelistic mission, their church hosts a seminary extension site of the Seminario Evangelico Methodista.

What is pneumatology?
The study of the person and work of the Holy Spirit.

What is the mission or goal of the Holy Spirit Seminar?
Our goals are 3-fold: Inspiration, Instruction and Impartation.
The mission of the Holy Spirit Seminar is to allow the person and work of the Holy Spirit to inspire, to instruct and to impart the life of God to United Methodists and to the larger Body of Christ.

When does the Holy Spirit Seminar meet?
It always meets on the first Friday in December at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio.

Why do we need an event such as the Holy Spirit Seminar?
“Renewalist Christianity” is the umbrella term for the Global Christian movement that puts an emphasis on the person and work of the Holy Spirit. Renewalist Christianity is a broad, global tradition that comprises Pentecostal, Charismatic, Third Wave, Non-denominational, and other types of “Spirit-filled” Christians. It is the fastest growing and one of the largest expressions of Christianity in the Majority world and in the Global South. Due to its source, growth, size, influence and impact, it is a movement that deserves to be examined and experienced.

What sort of themes does the Holy Spirit Seminar cover?
In the past the seminar has covered topics such as the gifts of the Spirit, prayer, signs and wonders, deliverance, and spiritual warfare.

Who is the Seminar for?
It is for everyone and anyone with a hunger to know more of the person and work of the Holy Spirit. It is not merely for United Methodists or Renewalist Christians, but for all who desire to learn more.
